An Introduction to the CIFC blog

News and Events

Thanks for checking out the blog for the Carolina Institute of Faith and Culture!

You can find over 400 posts here, a number growing by the day, so you’d be excused for feeling a tad bewildered about where to begin.

Whether you’re visiting for the first time or just looking to make an informed deep dive into the blog’s archive, these posts are a great place to start.

Check out a series of conversations with professors (from English, History, Media Communications, and Religion), honors students, and other academics.

Interested in C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, G.K. Chesterton and other Christian writers? You can start with the posts here.

Dr. Paul Schleifer has been writing his “Word of the Day” column for awhile, on and off. Looking for an entry point? Students particularly liked his entries for the words “rotund” and “vacillate.”

Students have contributed some of the site’s best work, ranging from analysis of great literature to book, film, and theater reviews as well as some simply humorous observations about life and literature. Our Media Communications students have also showcased their work on the site, and it’s well worth checking out.

Finally, some faculty have contributed thought-provoking essays on education.

If you find some other gems here, let us know.
